PARRA-NOIA – SHH Halloween Festival – with – The Australian Museum and Parramatta Female Factory Precinct Memory Project

What happens when you mash up Ghost Tour, Cabaret, history and live performers?

SHH Centre teams up with The Australian Museum and Parramatta Female Factory Precinct Memory Project to present ParraNoia, a 3-Day Halloween Festival featuring local history, contemporary music, and a haunted funhouse for all ages.

The Shh Centre 4 Hybrid Arts in North Parramatta has been the hub for art exhibitions, film screenings, magic shows, and even opera. Every year, the Centre also runs a quirky festival over Halloween based at Albert Street on the site of a former mental asylum.

This year ParraNoia is a 3-day Halloween Festival where the heritage of Parramatta’s local area becomes the backdrop for strange sights and gruesome storytelling.

A guided tour of Fleet st past the old Orphanage and Female Factory will run every night of the festival, opening up this fascinating part of Australia’s dark past and the legends that grew around it.

The festival will also present a curious collection of mortuary science multimedia from the Australian Museum. Cabaret performances and a haunted funhouse complete the Halloween experience.

“You will be given a tour through the most beautiful and unknown parts of Parramatta’s heritage” says Michal Imielski, Artistic Director of SHH. “We have had all ages enjoy our haunted funhouse and performances again and again. This year it will be a unique mix of education, entertainment and darkest parts of Australian history”

For over 10 years, the Shh company has specialised in bringing together artists from different professions to work together on creative and confronting works blending old and new styles, ideas and technologies.
